Death toll from floods in Marib rises to 8, and "early warning" expects the weather instability to continue

The number of victims of floods in Ma'rib Governorate in central Yemen rose to 8 on Tuesday, while the Early Warning Center expected the state of atmospheric instability to continue in Hadhramaut during the next 48 hours.

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps in Marib said in a brief statement that "the number of flood victims in Marib has risen to 8, in addition to 10 injuries" since last Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Early Warning Center for Disasters and Multiple Climate Hazards in Hadhramaut Governorate expected the weather conditions to continue to affect Hadhramaut Governorate and the governorates of our country during the next 48 hours.

The center said in its explanatory bulletin that the latest analyses of weather maps and numerical forecasts indicate the continuation of the impact of a state of atmospheric instability on Hadhramaut Governorate, including the central and western governorates of our country, as a result of the extension of the impact of a (humid tropical wave), and it is expected to continue for periods of the coming week.

The activity of thunderstorms also expanded during the afternoon periods until dawn hours over parts of the valley and plateaus of Hadhramaut interior and deserts, and it is likely to extend to include the southern and western plateau and the highlands of Hadhramaut coast and the surrounding countryside, with some coastal areas being affected by rainfall varying between medium and heavy, with local torrents flowing into some valleys and their branches.

The center called on all citizens to take precautions during rainfall, not to risk crossing valleys, and to be careful to remove public and private property from valleys and their branches.

The center stressed the need to avoid touching lighting poles or electrical conductors during and after rainfall and to stay away from flying objects during downward winds, noting the possibility of a decrease in horizontal visibility during heavy rain on the roads.

Since the beginning of this month, the amount of heavy rain has increased, causing floods in several Yemeni governorates, including Marib, Hodeidah and Hajjah, causing human losses and significant material damage.
