Yemen requests international support to enhance its capabilities in the field of combating terrorism

Today, Thursday, the Yemeni government asked the United Nations to support the capabilities of its institutions in the field of combating terrorism.

This came during a meeting between our country's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, and the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Voznokov, in New York, according to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).

The meeting discussed ways to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and law enforcement, and to enhance Yemen's capabilities in combating this phenomenon.

Ambassador Al-Saadi stressed the importance of providing support to Yemen, represented in enhancing the implementation of national strategies, building capacities, strengthening the legal and institutional framework and training needs, and the importance of building national capacities in the field of collecting and evaluating information, and enhancing regional and international cooperation to combat terrorist threats in the region .

Ambassador Al-Saadi pointed out the importance of continuing coordination and partnership to enhance security and stability in Yemen and the region.

For his part, the Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism stressed the importance of unifying efforts to combat this phenomenon and mobilizing international and regional support to enhance the capabilities of member states, expressing his office's readiness to provide support to the Yemeni government in this area.
