Sana'a: Yemen Youth Net
Statement of the Yemeni Judges Club
The Yemeni Judges Club, based in the capital Sana'a, condemned on Wednesday a Houthi decision to restore the defunct Imamate judicial system, in a statement issued in response to the Houthi draft amendments to the Judicial Authority Law, which its illegitimate parliament began discussing on Tuesday.
In a statement obtained by "Yemeni Youth Net", the club mocked the Houthi authority, describing it as the "group controlling" Sana'a, and that it does not represent the will of the people, and has undermined the authority of constitutional rule and national gains.
The statement stressed its condemnation and denunciation "in the strongest terms of denunciation, condemnation and denunciation of the persistence that has transcended all national, moral and religious constants, with the group controlling Sana'a submitting a draft law that represents a massacre and a judicial coup."
The Judges Club addressed the Yemeni people, mourning the judiciary and the legal and judicial professions, and that the Houthi law destroyed the values of cohesion, participation and justice in order to restore the Imamate system through the judiciary, via the patchwork system that was prevalent at the time.
The statement described the new Houthi judicial system as a system based on the satanic principle of “I will kill you” by destroying the constants and principles of the authority of rights, freedoms and dignity.
The club criticized the way negotiations to bring peace to Yemen are proceeding, as they "follow incorrect paths... that destroy the temple and waste human dignity and rights."
The Judges Club pledged to resist the Houthis’ encroachment on Sana’a and to defend the realm of justice, pledging not to be mere “recluses” and helpers of the oppressors, nor false witnesses to the destruction of constitutional constants.
He stressed his strenuous efforts with the people and all free legal professionals to unite and take all appropriate means to defend the authority of rights and freedoms (justice) and restore the republic.
This comes one day after the Houthis announced the submission of a draft resolution amending the Judicial Authority Law, which allows the head of the militia authority to appoint judges from outside the judiciary only, provided that they obtain a certificate of good conduct and behavior.
The new Houthi law also prevents lawyers from working and reinstates the system of agents from outside the lawyers.
