11 people killed by thunderstorms in several Yemeni governorates

11 people, including women and children, died in the past hours due to thunderstorms accompanying heavy rains in several Yemeni governorates.

Local sources said that Hajjah Governorate (northwest of Yemen) witnessed the death of four people yesterday evening, Sunday, in separate incidents in several directorates due to thunderstorms that hit the governorate.

According to the sources, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Al-Asadi died in Al-Mahabisha District, Mansour Ahmed Qasim Al-Talhi in Kushar District, Fuad Ali Muhammad Muqaddam in Al-Maftah District, and the wife of Muhammad Abdo Ali in Qafr Shammar District.

In Sana'a Governorate (north), (Ayyoub Ali Mansour Al-Waqsha) and (Dhafer Mohsen Marit Al-Haniyah) died in two separate incidents in the Nehm District, east of the governorate.

Saleh Saeed Farhan's wife and daughter, Kataba, died in a similar incident in Al-Hada'a District, Dhamar (central Yemen).

In Ma'rib Governorate (eastern Yemen), local sources said that a woman and a man died as a result of lightning strikes that struck the governorate, in addition to others being injured.

A young man named Yahya Al-Jarbi Al-Marani, from Al-Marashi District in Al-Jawf Governorate (northeast), died from a thunderbolt that coincided with heavy rains.

Since the beginning of the rainy season last March, thunderstorms have claimed the lives of dozens, most of whom died during the period from late June to August.
