Four people, all women and children, were killed and injured in a house collapse in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), as a result of the continuous rains that the governorate has been witnessing for months.

Local sources said that an old multi-storey house in the village of Al-Ma'aran in the "Thawb A'la" district in the Ibb countryside directorate, owned by the citizen (Abdullah Abdul Rab Al Qasim), collapsed on its residents on Thursday, causing the death of his daughter and the injury of another woman and two children from the same family.

The sources added that one of the injured children sustained a serious head injury and was transferred to a hospital in Ibb city, where he underwent surgery.

Sources reported that immediately after the house collapsed, residents rushed to the house and evacuated its residents, which reduced human losses.

It is noteworthy that a number of houses in the same village had previously collapsed and others were damaged due to the heavy rains that the governorate witnessed during the current season and previous seasons, due to the nature of its houses, which are mostly old.

Since late July, the total number of houses collapsed due to floods in the governorate has reached 19 (6 Jablah - 3 Yarim - 3 Al-Radmah - 2 Al-Mashnah - 2 Al-Dhahar - 1 Al-Nadrah - 1 Baadan - 1 Ibb countryside), in addition to the damage to hundreds of houses and residences in Al-Qafr, Jablah and other areas.

For weeks, Ibb Governorate has been witnessing continuous rains that have caused human losses and damage to infrastructure and citizens’ property.
