The Yemeni Ministry of Interior said on Thursday that it had arrested 429 suspects in various criminal cases during the past week in a number of liberated areas.
The ministry explained in a statement on its website that "police departments in the liberated governorates received 507 reports of various criminal cases during the past week, during which they were able to detect 363 crimes."
She pointed out that "the efforts and procedures of search and investigation in the governorates of Taiz, Aden, Hadramaut, the coast, valley and desert, Abyan, Hodeidah, Al Dhale, Shabwa, Al Mahrah, Hajjah and Marib are still ongoing to search for 144 crimes to uncover their circumstances and arrest the perpetrators."
She stated, according to the reports of the operations rooms in the governorates, "429 suspects were arrested, distributed among the governorates as follows: Taiz 92 suspects, Hadhramaut Coast 79 suspects, Marib 66 suspects, Aden 62 suspects, Shabwa 44 suspects, Ad Dali 28 suspects, Hadhramaut Valley and Desert 18 suspects, Hodeidah 13 suspects, Al Mahrah 12 suspects, Hajjah 8 suspects, and Abyan 7 suspects."
She stated that the crimes detected were distributed between "101 crimes of intentional harm, 54 various thefts, 30 attacks on the property of others, 25 threats, 18 cases of asking for money, 16 cases of breach of trust, 15 cases of attacks on and damage to private property, and 13 cases of fraud and deception."
While the number reached "11 crimes of insult and cursing, 10 violations of the sanctity of a home, 8 drugs, 7 attempted murders, 5 exchanges of gunfire, 5 crimes of disobedience to parents, 5 alcohol trade, 4 resistance to authority, assault on a public employee, 4 forgery, 3 defamation, 3 slander, and 3 rape crimes."
The ministry confirmed that it "recorded two crimes of harassment, two crimes of immoral acts, one crime of indecent act, incitement, deliberate bombing, unintentional killing, fraud, incest, robbery, and illegal seclusion."
