The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced on Sunday the killing and wounding of Israeli soldiers in a minefield explosion and sniper operation south of Gaza City, in addition to bombing Tel Aviv in response to the massacres against civilians and displacement.

Al-Qassam said in a statement via Telegram that its fighters "during a tight ambush south of the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, were able to detonate a minefield prepared in advance in a Zionist armored force," noting that "(Israeli) helicopters landed to evacuate the dead and wounded," without mentioning a specific number.

She added that its fighters were able to "snipe a Zionist soldier in the vicinity of the university college, south of the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in Gaza City."

Scenes broadcast by Al-Qassam from the sniper operation - which took place in the vicinity of the university college - showed a precise monitoring of the Israeli soldiers, and then the preparation of Al-Qassam fighters for the sniper and targeting operation.

According to the scenes, the Israeli soldier was directly hit and fell to the ground, while his colleagues ran in fear and fled in several directions.

Tel Aviv bombing

Later, Al-Qassam said that it had bombed the city of Tel Aviv with an M90 "Maqadma" missile in response to "the Zionist massacres against civilians and the deliberate displacement of our people."

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said in a statement on Sunday that sirens sounded in the central Israeli settlement of Rishon LeZion.

An Israeli settler was slightly injured while fleeing to a shelter in Rishon LeZion after hearing the sirens, according to the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

This is the second time this August that rockets have been fired from Gaza towards Tel Aviv.

The M90 or Maqadma 90 missile, named after Ibrahim Maqadma, one of the leaders of Hamas and one of the founders of the Qassam Brigades, who was assassinated by Israel in 2003, was announced as a locally manufactured missile in the same year, and its range is between 200 and 250 km.

Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip are engaged in battles with Israeli forces advancing throughout the Strip, while the fierce war waged by Tel Aviv against the Palestinians in Gaza continues.

With American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 133,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.

In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the humanitarian situation.
