Young man commits suicide in Sana'a
A young man in his twenties committed suicide on Tuesday in the capital, Sana'a, due to the accumulation of debts and his inability to pay them.
Activists on social media said that the young man, "Mohammed Al-Aqab", who works in a grocery store on Al-Zira'a Street in Sana'a, was found dead inside the grocery store where he works last night.
According to Judge Abdul Wahab Qatran, the young man, Al-Aqab, had accumulated debts amounting to four million riyals, which prompted him to commit suicide by hanging himself because he was unable to pay his debts.
This comes at a time when the capital, Sana'a, and areas under Houthi control are witnessing difficult economic conditions, forcing a number of shop owners and small businesses to close due to the decline in citizens' purchasing power.
At a time when citizens are suffering from extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, the militia has intensified collection campaigns against shop owners, and increased electricity, water and rent bills, which has prompted many merchants to close their shops.
