Atletico Madrid equalized with its neighbor and guest, Real Madrid, the title holder, in the last moments (1-1) on Sunday in the eighth round of the Spanish Football League.

The only goal for the royal team was scored by Brazilian defender Eder Militao in the 64th minute. Minutes later, referee Mateo Busquets stopped the match (68) after some Atletico fans threw projectiles in protest at Courtois wasting time.

Diego Simeone and his players tried to calm the crowd down, but the referee decided to stop the game and go to the locker room for a few minutes before resuming play.

The home team tried to come back after the game resumed, and they achieved their goal in the 90+5 minute through Argentine substitute Angel Correa, with a goal that the referee initially did not count due to offside, but it was confirmed after returning to video technology.

The referee sent off Atletico Madrid player Marcos Llorente after his violent tackle on Garcia.

Real Madrid's score became 18 points, two points behind the leader Barcelona, while Atletico's score became 16 in third place.

Among the notable numbers in the derby, Luka Modric, at the age of 39 years and 20 days, became the oldest player to play in the Madrid derby in the Spanish League since the Moroccan Larbi Ben Barek in November 1953.

Antoine Griezmann also becomes the second non-Spanish player to play 500 matches in the Spanish League after Lionel Messi.
