Real Madrid club officially announced that its goalkeeper, Belgian Thibaut Courtois (32 years old), suffered an injury to the adductor muscle of his left leg, during the derby match against Atletico Madrid, which was held on Sunday night in the Spanish capital, Madrid, and ended in a 1-1 draw.

The royal team explained that the medical examinations conducted on the player on Monday revealed the nature of the injury, indicating that Courtois needs some time to recover.

Real Madrid did not specify, in the statement published on its official website, the duration of Courtois' absence, but the Spanish newspaper Marca reported that the Belgian goalkeeper may return to the stadiums only, starting from mid-October, after the international break.

This means that he is likely to miss the team's next match, against French club Lille, in the Champions League, as well as the local match against Villarreal, next weekend.

This injury is considered a severe blow to Real Madrid, especially after the team suffered, in the recent period, many injuries that struck its most prominent stars, most notably the French Kylian Mbappe and the English Jude Bellingham, while Courtois' absence will pose a major challenge to the coach and the team's players, as they will be forced to search for an alternative who can perform well in his absence.

The club's fans are closely following the developments in Courtois' condition, hoping that he will recover quickly and return to goalkeeping as soon as possible, despite the presence of the Ukrainian international goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, who performed strongly last season and made the best compensation for Courtois after his injury and long absence from the stadiums.
