Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-0 on a tough night of injury for captain Dani Carvajal

Real Madrid regained its winning streak at the expense of its guest Villarreal, beating it 2-0 on Saturday in the ninth round of the Spanish Football League.

Uruguayan Federico Valverde (14) and Brazilian Vinicius Junior (73) scored the royal team's two goals.

This valuable victory comes after two consecutive disappointments, the first was against Atletico Madrid in the last round of La Liga (1-1) and the second came on the ground of Lille in the Champions League (0-1).

The last minutes of the exciting match witnessed a serious injury to the Spanish capital team's defender, Dani Carvajal, who left the field on a stretcher.

Real Madrid raised its score to 21 points in second place, on goal difference, behind leaders Barcelona, which will face host Deportivo Alaves on Sunday in the same stage.

As for Villarreal, its score froze at 17 points in third place temporarily.

In the same stage, Espanyol defeated Real Mallorca (2-1), Celta Vigo defeated Las Palmas (1-0), and Rayo Vallecano defeated Valladolid (2-1).

The match between Getafe and Osasuna ended in a 1-1 draw.
