Lebanon.. Violent Israeli raids target Beirut suburb, death toll rises to 2036 martyrs

The Israeli Air Force launched a series of violent raids on southern Beirut, shortly after the Israeli army warned to evacuate buildings in the area, while the Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of 2,036 people since about a year of occupation attacks.

Media outlets reported that "more than 10 Israeli raids targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, while intense fires broke out in more than one spot early Sunday morning."

The National News Agency reported that "the Israeli enemy's warplanes carried out 4 very violent raids on the southern suburb, and a raid on the Choueifat area, and ambulances rushed to the place."

Agence France-Presse also reported hearing explosions, smoke plumes and fireballs in the targeted areas.

The raids come after the Israeli army issued a new warning to residents of the Burj al-Barajneh, Haret Hreik and Choueifat al-Amrousieh neighbourhoods in the southern suburbs to evacuate them.

The occupation army claims that the targeted buildings "contain Hezbollah interests," a claim it has repeatedly repeated to justify striking civilian targets.

Yesterday, Saturday, the Israeli air force raided the towns of Khiam, Adaisseh, Kfar Kela, Maroun al-Ras, Maarakeh, Zrarieh, Tebnine, and Naqoura in southern Lebanon.

For its part, the Lebanese News Agency said that the Israeli raids targeted an area near the Rashidieh Palestinian refugee camp, south of Tyre.

She confirmed that 4 people were killed and another was injured in an Israeli raid that targeted a house in the town of Joya in Tyre district, noting that the Israeli air force raided a house in the town of Qana in Tyre without causing any injuries.

She added that an Israeli drone carried out an airstrike targeting a house in the eastern town of Zawtar in the south of the country, which led to the killing of 3 people, noting that another person was killed when a motorcycle was targeted in Majdal Selem in Nabatieh.

For its part, the Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that the number of victims of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon since October 8, 2023 has risen to 2,036 dead and 9,653 wounded.

In recent days, the Israeli army has focused its bombing on homes, deliberately committing massacres against their peaceful residents, in addition to destroying buildings adjacent to international and main roads with the aim of cutting off and obstructing communication between towns, according to the Lebanese News Agency.

Since September 23, Israel has launched the most violent and extensive attack on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah on October 8, 2023, resulting in hundreds of victims, including dead and wounded, in addition to the displacement of hundreds of thousands, some of whom are homeless.
