This was Mbappé's first league goal for Real Madrid, having opened his account for the club in all competitions when he helped them beat Atalanta 2-0 in the European Super Cup by scoring the second goal.
Mbappe, who was substituted ten minutes from time to be replaced by the experienced Luka Modric, was named man of the match.
The Madrid team's tally now stands at 8 points from two draws and two wins, 4 points behind leaders Barcelona, while Betis' tally stopped at 2 points from two draws and a loss, without any wins so far (with a postponed match).

Girona achieves its second victory and Osasuna defeats Celta Vigo
In other matches, Girona achieved its second consecutive victory in the Spanish League, beating its host, Sevilla, 2-0, in the fourth round.
Captain Ivan Martin gave the Catalan visitors the lead in the 41st minute, while Abel Ruiz secured Girona's victory with a second goal from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute.
In the same round, Osasuna defeated its guest Celta Vigo by three goals to two. Flavien Buyumo was able to open the score for Osasuna in the 21st minute, but Celta Vigo equalized the score through Borja Iglesias.
The home side returned to the lead again, this time with an own goal by Carlos Dominguez, before it was Abel Britons' turn to make it three for Osasuna.
Celta Vigo ended the match with ten players after the exclusion of Alfonso Gonzalez, and despite the numerical shortage, the guests were able to reduce the difference with a goal that came from friendly fire scored by Moi Gomez into his own team's goal.
In another match, Getafe tied with its guest, Real Sociedad, without goals. This is the third consecutive tie for the Madrid team, which raised its score to three points, one point behind Real Sociedad.
In another match, Deportivo Alaves defeated its guest Las Palmas by two goals to none.
Carlos Vicente quickly gave his team the lead after seven minutes, before Toni Martinez secured Alaves' second win of the season by scoring the second goal in the 78th minute, despite his teammate Luca Romero missing a penalty in the dying moments of the match.
