Ibrahim Diaz
Spanish football champions Real Madrid have announced that their Moroccan star, Brahim Diaz, will be out of action for several weeks due to injury.
Diaz, 25, was substituted in the 23rd minute of Saturday's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in the fifth round of the Spanish League, with his club confirming on Sunday that he had been diagnosed with a strain in his right thigh muscle.
The club said in a statement without specifying the duration of the Moroccan international's absence: "After the tests conducted by Real Madrid's medical staff on our player Brahim Diaz, he was diagnosed with an injury to the long adductor muscle in his right leg."
According to local press, the former AC Milan player is expected to be out of action for at least a month, while sports daily Marca reported that he could be out for up to three months.
Diaz will miss Real Madrid's first Champions League match and La Liga matches, including the capital derby against Atletico Madrid on September 29.
Diaz joins a long list of injured Real players, most notably England's Jude Bellingham, France's Aurelien Tchouameni, Austria's David Alaba and Dani Carvajal, but Italian Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the royal club, said on Friday that Bellingham and Tchouameni are close to returning.

Ibrahim Diaz and bad luck
The injury came at a very bad time for the player who has been shining remarkably with the Moroccan national team recently, making him one of the candidates to compete for the African Golden Ball award after his distinguished performances with the Atlas Lions.
He also contributed to his team winning the Champions League and Spanish League titles last season, in addition to the European Super Cup, but the injury he suffered will greatly affect his chances of winning this important individual title.
Ancelotti was initially reluctant to include Diaz regularly, but changed his mind after the Moroccan's impressive performances in recent training and matches, which helped him get a greater chance in the starting line-up.
Especially after the difficult start for Rodrigo, who is suffering from a decline in his level compared to previous seasons, but luck was not on Diaz's side, as the injury came to stop his progress towards confirming himself as a key player in the royal team.
While Diaz is looking forward to returning to action as soon as possible, this period of absence will be a major challenge for the young player who was hoping to continue developing, competing for individual awards and playing at the highest levels with a team the size of Real Madrid.
But with the fighting spirit that Morocco's new star is known for, fans can expect him to come back stronger and more determined after overcoming this difficult stage.
