This morning, Saturday, the activities of the Shabwa Book Fair for the current year 2024 AD were launched, at the poet Yaslam bin Ali Cultural Center in the city of Ataq, with the participation of 22 publishing houses and libraries.
Shabwa Media Office said in a press release that Governor Awad bin Al-Wazir inaugurated the activities of the Shabwa Book Fair this morning for the current year, and toured the exhibition pavilions, expressing his admiration for the arrangements and distinguished organization made by those in charge of the exhibition.
In his speech, which he wrote in the exhibition’s register, Governor Bin Al-Wazir stressed the great importance of the book fair in activating the cultural movement and encouraging reading, pointing out that the fair represents an important platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge between different segments of society, and contributes to raising cultural and cognitive awareness.
The governor stressed the local authority's keenness to support culture and intellectuals, emphasizing the importance of investing in people through reading and learning, as it is the basic pillar for building an aware and advanced society.
According to the Director General of the General Authority for Books branch in the governorate, Khaled Salem Faraj, 22 publishing houses and offices participated in the exhibition, which included a variety of books in various fields, amounting to more than (150) thousand books, including literature, science, history, philosophy and other fields that meet the interests of different age groups.
Bin Faraj pointed out that the exhibition will witness a number of diverse cultural events, such as seminars, discussion groups and workshops, targeting various segments of society, with the aim of enhancing intellectual and cultural dialogue.
