The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance renewed its commitment to its demand to be included as an independent party representing the governorate in the negotiations to establish peace in Yemen.
The alliance said in a press release on its Facebook page that its president and head of the Hadhramaut General Conference, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish Al-Ali, met on Friday via video conference with the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Sarhad Fattah.
According to the statement, the meeting, which was attended by officials from the UN envoy's office in Amman and Aden, and the head of the political department of the Hadhramaut General Conference, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Jaber, discussed the situation in Yemen in general and Hadhramaut in particular.
During the meeting, Bin Habrish stressed that "there is no comprehensive peace in Yemen, except by involving us as an independent party."
He said: “The international community must deal with all parties regarding participation in the political process with unified and fair standards, and we reject dealing with double standards,” stressing that the position of societies on their land is the most likely option in the equation.
In turn, the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations stressed the international organization's continued efforts to reach an agreement that paves the way for comprehensive peace in Yemen, and its keenness to involve all active parties.
