The American Center for Justice ( ACJ ) called on Tuesday on the Transitional Council forces in the interim capital, Aden, to quickly release a group of doctors who were arrested after coming from Sana’a 10 days ago.

In a statement, the center expressed its condemnation of the Transitional Council forces in Aden for detaining a group of doctors coming from Sana'a, who were in Aden to take medical equipment owned by a hospital in Sana'a that was in a warehouse in Aden after a dispute with the warehouse guard that was resolved amicably.

He explained that the detention of the doctors (Director of Unimax Hospital in Sana'a, "Bassem Al-Amiri", Rami Al-Shazly, Sami Al-Absi, Samah Al-Qudsi, and Riyadh Al-Iraqi) took place on the evening of Friday, October 25, 2024, where they were detained in the Al-Nasr camp affiliated with the forces of the Southern Transitional Council.

The center stated that no information was available about the conditions of the doctors’ detention or their health condition, while the party detaining them justified it by suspecting their connection to the Houthi group, without a judicial order being issued against them.

The American Center for Justice pointed out that this measure is a clear violation of the provisions of the constitution and the law that criminalize the arrest of any person without a legal reason or a judicial order, and is also a clear violation of international laws and norms related to the protection of human rights.

ACJ student) The Southern Transitional Council must immediately and unconditionally release the detained doctors and stop all arbitrary measures against them. The Center also calls on the authorities in Aden to respect the rights of individuals and protect them from arbitrary detention in accordance with local and international laws, stressing the importance of providing fair trial guarantees for anyone arrested or suspected, and ensuring that detention is not used as a means of exerting political pressure or discrimination.
