A woman ends her life due to poor living conditions in Dhi As-Sufal, south of Ibb

A woman in her twenties ended her life due to difficult living conditions in a town in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen).

Local sources said that a woman in her twenties named (R. A. Q. G. A.) committed suicide by hanging herself inside her home yesterday, Thursday, in the Al-Urayr area, southeast of Al-Qaida city in the Dhi As-Sufal district, south of Ibb.

The sources added that initial information indicates that difficult living conditions were the motive behind the incident, as the woman and her husband failed to provide a living for themselves and their two daughters.

The sources reported that the family entered into difficult living conditions after the head of the family returned from Saudi Arabia through smuggling, following a dispute between him and his sponsor.

The sources indicated that the husband had sold everything he owned, including his wife's gold, in addition to borrowing an additional amount, and bought a work visa for Saudi Arabia. However, the dispute that arose between him and his sponsor in Saudi Arabia forced him to leave by smuggling, and he subsequently failed to obtain a source of income, which exacerbated his living situation.

The incident comes two days after a young man was found hanged inside a guard room in Jabal Ra’aween in Jablah District, amid an increase in suicide incidents in the governorate under the control of the Houthi militia, most of which are due to economic and livelihood reasons.
