Abyan tribes close international road to demand disclosure of Ashal's fate
The statement also called on the Chairman of the Leadership Council and the leadership of the Arab coalition to take into consideration the statements of the two million people in Aden and Abyan, as well as the statement of the tribes in Sweida, and to implement what was stated in them before things get out of control.
The statement concluded by stressing that "the Abyan tribes and all their segments stand united with the Jaadna tribe in any decision they make, and we will not hesitate to take any additional measures if the intransigence and lack of response continue."
The statement warned that "the contempt, marginalization and injustice to which the people of Abyan are being subjected will not go unnoticed, and we will work in all available ways to defend our rights and dignity," he said.
Al-Jaadani was kidnapped in early June in the interim capital, Aden. Aden police announced that elements of the so-called Counter-Terrorism Force affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council were responsible for kidnapping Ashal, confirming that the force’s commander and his deputy had fled the country.
Last week, the Abyan tribes organized a mass demonstration in the city of Zinjibar, the provincial capital, demanding the immediate release of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani, determining the fate of all those kidnapped and forcibly disappeared, and releasing those who have no charges against them.
The demonstrators also expressed in the demonstration statement their astonishment at the silence of the responsible higher authorities represented by the Presidential Council, the House of Representatives and the Council of Ministers regarding the serious practices and violations taking place under the umbrella of the so-called fight against terrorism in Aden against the people of the south, and their failure to respond to our just demands.
The statement held the de facto authority fully responsible for the lives of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal and all the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared, demanding that Al-Jaadani be brought in without any conditions, stressing that the escalation will continue by all available means until our demands are met, and we affirm the continuation of the open peaceful sit-in camp.
