One soldier killed, another injured in armed attack on STC forces east of Abyan Governorate

A soldier was killed and another was injured on Wednesday evening, following an attack by armed elements on a site of the Southern Transitional Council forces in Mudiyah District, Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen.

A local source told "Yemeni Youth Net" that gunmen believed to belong to Al-Qaeda launched an attack on a site of the Third Support and Reinforcement Brigade forces in the Al-Kasara area, the entrance to Wadi Omran, in Mudiyah District, east of Abyan.

The source stated that the two sides exchanged fire, which resulted in the death of a soldier from the Third Support and Reinforcement Brigade and the injury of another, while the losses of the other side were not known.

Abyan Governorate witnesses armed clashes from time to time between armed elements believed to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda on the one hand, and government forces and the Transitional Council forces on the other.
