International Coastal Line in Abyan

The security services in Abyan Governorate, represented by the security forces and the security belt, announced the launch of a large-scale campaign to open the international and coastal road and remove all unjustified barriers, a day after it was closed by tribal gunmen in the governorate.

Yesterday, Monday, tribal gunmen closed the international coastal line linking the governorates of Aden and Abyan again, demanding the disclosure of the fate of the kidnapped Ali Ashal, amid threats of escalation.

The security services confirmed in their statement that cutting off the coastline threatens the daily life of the southern governorates, from Hadhramaut to Aden, warning against any attempt to obstruct their work, and holding those who do so fully responsible for any resulting repercussions.

She pointed out that she had taken a responsible position by standing with the oppressed, foremost among them the case of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal, stressing her commitment to self-control at all turns.

At the same time, she expressed her concern about the interference of parties that she said "exploited this just human rights issue to achieve their personal interests and settle scores."

She noted that the escalation resulting from this issue began with the establishment of a camp in Zinjibar, then the cutting of the Lahmar-Aden road, until it reached the cutting of the international coastal line, which led to the disruption of fuel tanker supplies for Aden and Hadhramaut electricity.

The security services confirmed that the Director of Security of Abyan Governorate received calls from the governors of Hadhramaut and Aden expressing their fears of the continued escalation and the cutting off of vital supplies.

On Monday, the Abyan tribes had once again cut off the international coastal line to demand the disclosure of the fate of "Ashal" and threatened to escalate, after the Ashal case reached a dead end, and the failure of the de facto authority in Aden to reveal the fate of the kidnapped person and release him.
