Goalless draw ends Manchester City summit, Inter and Saint-Germain win with difficulty over Girona

A goalless draw decided the match between Manchester City of England and Inter Milan of Italy, while Paris Saint-Germain achieved a difficult victory over Girona (1-0), in the Champions League matches.

The summit match between Manchester City of England and its guest, Inter of Italy, ended in a goalless draw today, Wednesday, in the first round of the league stage within the matches of the European Champions League competition.

Inter Milan forced a goalless draw against host Manchester City on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium in the first round of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite not winning, City continued their unbeaten run in the prestigious competition to reach 24 consecutive matches.

Inter, in turn, have failed to win their opening match in 9 of their last 10 Champions League appearances.

City will play their other matches against Paris Saint-Germain, Club Brugge, Juventus, Feyenoord, Sporting, Sparta Prague and Slovan Bratislava.

In turn, Inter will play against German Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, English Arsenal, Serbian Red Star, Swiss Young Boys, French Monaco and Sparta Prague.

Paris Saint-Germain wins with difficulty

Paris Saint-Germain of France achieved a difficult and late victory over its guest, Girona of Spain, by one goal to none, on Wednesday evening, in the first round of the league stage in the European Champions League.
Portuguese full-back Nuno Mendes scored the goal in the last minute of regular time after the ball deceived Girona goalkeeper, Argentine Paulo Gazzaniga, and settled in the net.

Borussia Dortmund beat Club Brugge

Borussia Dortmund returned with a clear victory from the Belgian Club Brugge, 3-0, on Wednesday, in the Champions League - League stage.

Englishman Jamie Beno-Gittens scored twice in the 76th and 86th minutes, while Guinean Serhou Guirassy scored from a penalty kick in the 90th and 5th minutes.

Borussia Dortmund's Jimmy Gittens became the third English player to score two or more goals as a substitute in a Champions League match, after Marcus Rashford for Manchester United against Leipzig in October 2020 and David Beckham for Manchester United against Real Madrid in April 2003.

In the match numbers, Getz became the second-youngest player to score two or more goals as a substitute in a Champions League match (20 years and 41 days), behind only David Trezeguet for Monaco against Lierse in October 1997 (20 years and 7 days).

Club Brugge have also failed to win 18 of their last 21 home Champions League games. Borussia Dortmund have kept a clean sheet in all five of their Champions League games against Club Brugge.
