Hadhramaut.. A massive demonstration in the city of Al-Shehr denouncing the attack on an exchange company

Hundreds of citizens demonstrated last night in the city of Al-Shihr in Hadramaut Governorate (eastern Yemen), denouncing the armed attack on one of the branches of exchange companies in Hotat bin Ahmed in Shibam District.

Local sources told "Yemen Shabab Net" that hundreds of citizens gathered after the evening prayer in a protest in front of the Al-Aidarus Dam in the city of Al-Shahr, denouncing the crime of attacking the Al-Bisari Exchange Company, owned by the businessman Sheikh Muhammad Awad Al-Bassiri.

She added that the demonstrators expressed their solidarity with the company's owners, and expressed their condemnation and denunciation of the armed attack that targeted the company's branch in Hotat Shibam, Hadhramaut.

Last week, the Al-Baisari Exchange Company was attacked and closed by force of arms by armed groups, in the Hotat Ahmed bin Zain area in the Shibam District of Hadhramaut.

The Hadhramaut Money Exchange Association had announced a comprehensive closure of all branches of money exchange companies in the region, starting last Sunday, due to repeated attacks on money exchange companies and shops by armed groups.

The association said in a statement that this measure is a result of “the continuation of the attacks that took place in Hotat Ahmed bin Zein, Shibam Wadi Hadhramaut District, and due to the lack of sufficient security to protect banking facilities from attacks, the most recent of which was the attack on the Al-Bassiri Exchange Company.”

The Money Changers Association indicated that the security authorities in the directorate and in Hadhramaut Governorate ignored the continuation of what it described as security chaos, and called on the security authorities and local authorities to provide adequate guarantees to prevent the recurrence of such armed attacks on national banking facilities and companies.
