English club Arsenal settled the summit match against its guest, French club Paris Saint-Germain, by defeating it 2-0 on Tuesday evening in the second round of the Champions League.

Arsenal's goals were scored by German Kai Havertz (20) and Bukayo Saka (35), to achieve the Gunners' first victory after their goalless draw in the first round with Italian Atalanta, while the Parisian club suffered its first loss after winning in the first round against Spanish Girona by one goal to nil.

Manchester City beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0

In another match, Manchester City returned from Slovakia with its first win in the Champions League competition under the new unified group system, and achieved a big result against Slovan Bratislava 4-0 on Tuesday in the second round.

In their first of eight matches under the new format, Pep Guardiola's side were held to a goalless draw at home to Inter Milan, but they showed their teeth on Tuesday, claiming their first win in a campaign with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as the only major obstacles in their way.

City struck in the eighth minute through German Ilkay Gundogan, who had the ball fall in front of him after a failed shot by his Brazilian teammate Savinho, so he fired it directly from outside the area, but it deflected from the defender and deceived his goalkeeper.

City soon added the second through Phil Foden with a precise, arced shot into the bottom right corner of the Slovakian goal after a pass from Belgian Jeremy Doku (15).

In the second half, Norwegian Erling Haaland entered the line and added the third goal after breaking the offside trap following a perfect pass from Rico Lewis, playing with the goalkeeper before scoring into the empty net (58), before young substitute James McAtee added the fourth after a perfect pass from Foden (74).

In Milan, Inter followed City's example by beating their guest, Serbian Red Star, 4-0, scored by the Turkish Hakan Calhanoglu from a free kick that was deflected by the defensive wall and deceived the goalkeeper (11), the Austrian Marko Arnautovic (59), and the Argentine Lautaro Martinez (71) with two passes from the Iranian Mehdi Taremi, who scored the fourth from a penalty kick (81).
