On Tuesday evening, Yemeni citizens in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate foiled an event held by an Emirati institution, after storming it and chanting slogans calling for the UAE to leave the archipelago.

Local sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that dozens of citizens in the Socotra Archipelago stormed an event organized by the Emirati "Khalifa" Foundation in the Diksam Reserve, on the Yemeni island of Socotra, and foiled its establishment.

The sources explained that during the event, the protesters chanted slogans demanding the UAE's departure from the Yemeni archipelago, expressing their rejection of tampering with their identity, culture, customs and morals.

According to the source, citizens accuse the Emirati institution of spreading “depravity and corruption” in their conservative society.

The "Sons of Mahra and Socotra" platform published video clips of citizens attacking the event organized by the Khalifa Foundation, which carries out espionage operations inside the governorate, confirming the increase in popular movements rejecting the Emirati presence on the island.

It is noteworthy that the Emirati Khalifa Foundation holds events from time to time on Socotra Island, but it faces opposition from the citizens of Socotra, who accuse it of introducing phenomena that are contrary to their society and traditions.

The Khalifa Foundation of the Emirates had organized an event last week, calling for the island to be annexed to the Emirates, as part of the Emirati attempts to annex the island to its territory, in a clear violation of Yemeni sovereignty.

The Emirati practices on the island have led to the accumulation of anger among citizens, due to the absurd Emirati practices against the Socotra Archipelago, and the attempt to turn it into an emirate affiliated with it.

The UAE is tampering with the island through the so-called Khalifa Foundation, which is present on the island under the cover of humanitarian work while it is spying on citizens inside the archipelago.
