The Meteorology and Early Warning Center of the Meteorology Sector of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology warned, on Saturday, of the continued impact of heavy thunderstorms and strong winds on various regions and governorates of Yemen.

The center expected in its 72-hour warning bulletin that heavy thunderstorms, some of which will be accompanied by hail and strong winds, will continue to fall on the highlands, slopes, and western coastal plains, based on satellite images, numerical model outputs, upper atmosphere layers, and surface observations.

The center indicated the possibility of varying intensity rain, some of which will be thundery and accompanied by strong winds, in parts of the deserts, highlands and plateaus of the governorates of Al Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Al Bayda, Al Jawf, Marib, and Al Dhale’e, in addition to the governorates of Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, Lahj, and the Bab al-Mandab region.

He also expected strong winds that would stir up sand and dust in the Socotra Archipelago, the southern coasts, and areas within the range of thunderclouds.

The Forecast Center renewed its warning to citizens and drivers against being in valleys and torrents and driving on slippery muddy roads in areas where rain is expected.

He also warned against approaching electricity poles, billboards and trees, and against turning off mobile phones during thunderstorms, and against wind activity that raises sand and dust during thunderstorms and rainfall in areas within the range of thunderclouds.
