Iranian leader known as Abu Mahdi
Informed sources revealed the killing of a leader in Hezbollah, Iran's arm in southern Lebanon, who had previously fought with the Houthi militia in Yemen and worked as an advisor to the group and participated in coordinating its military operations.
Journalist and researcher specializing in the military field and the Houthi militia, Adnan Al-Jabrni, said that the Hezbollah leader who was recently killed was called “Ali Adel Al-Ashmar,” while his nom de guerre was (Sheikh Abu Mahdi).
Al-Jabrani pointed out in his post on the “X” platform that Abu Mahdi played a vital role in forming the Houthi group under the supervision of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and developing the group’s capabilities and organizational structure, which was designed according to Hezbollah’s combination.
According to researcher Al-Jabrni, the leader "Abu Mahdi" was one of the most prominent and important advisors with the Houthis, and the longest-serving in Yemen, before his return to Lebanon.
He pointed out that he participated in leading the battles to overthrow Amran Governorate and was present in the "Al-Ghoul" area. He also participated in the battles to overthrow Hamdan and Sana'a and was present near the village of "Amad" in the Ayal Sareeh area and then in the village of "Al-Qabil" on the northern outskirts of Sana'a.
The killing of Hezbollah's leader and a number of the party's prominent leaders in recent weeks has lifted the lid on their roles in participating alongside the Houthis and managing their military operations inside and outside Yemen's borders, up to the operations the group is carrying out in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden on behalf of Iran.
The last Hezbollah leader to be killed in the Israeli war on the party was the leader of the party’s “Radwan Force,” “Basil Mustafa Shukr,” who worked with the Houthis in Yemen as part of the party’s experts and the Revolutionary Guards who worked for the group.
This comes within the framework of the strategic relationship between the Houthis and Iran, as the relationship between them is based on the exchange of common interests and orientations that aim to enhance Iran's influence in the region, as Iran has worked to provide the Houthis with weapons and money over the past years to strengthen their influence in Yemen.
Iran also provided ideological and religious support to the Houthi militia, in addition to financial and logistical support, military support and training, especially at the hands of the Revolutionary Guards and the Quds Force, where they trained the militia on the use of advanced weapons and methods of carrying out attacks with missiles and drones.
