Dr. Ahmed Al-Abbadi, Director of the Health and Population Office in Marib Governorate (eastern Yemen), said that the areas controlled by the Houthi militia are a major hotbed for the transmission of diseases and epidemics to the governorate, with the continuous movement of expatriates to it.

Dr. Al-Abadi added in a special statement to "Yemeni Youth" that the field teams affiliated with the health office in the governorate monitored most of the cases infected with cholera, diphtheria, whooping cough and various fevers that were coming from areas controlled by the Houthi militia, where these diseases are spreading as a result of the militia preventing immunization vaccines.

He pointed out that the governorate's hospitals have received about 1,200 cholera cases since the beginning of this year, and they have recovered after undergoing treatment, while 624 cases of measles and 143 cases of diphtheria have been recorded, including 7 deaths linked to the disease.

Ma'rib Governorate hosts more than two million displaced people from all Yemeni governorates who fled the brutality of the Houthi militia and the repercussions of the war that has been ongoing in the country for ten years. Most of them live in camps in difficult living and health conditions.
