From the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance meeting
The presidency of the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance announced, on Sunday evening, the self-rule of the governorate with full powers, in response to the demands of the residents and their ongoing protests in the oil-rich governorate, in an effort to achieve Hadhramaut’s independence and preserve its rights in light of the deterioration of the general situation in the country.
This came in a statement issued by the alliance presidency following an extraordinary meeting in the Al-Ulaib area in the Ghayl Bin Yamin Directorate, confirming its commitment to the demands approved by the Hadhramaut Comprehensive Conference last July, and the subsequent demands issued by the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance.
The statement stressed that Hadhramaut's self-rule has become "an urgent necessity to save Hadhrami society from the deteriorating situation."
The alliance confirmed its continued pressure and escalation until these rights are achieved on the ground, while renewing its support for the governor’s decision to cover the local market with diesel produced by PetroMasila at a price of 800 riyals per liter.
He pointed out that this decision is a step in the right direction, calling for the establishment of an accurate mechanism to control the price difference in a way that serves the public interest.
The alliance also called for providing high-quality petroleum in the local market at prices equal to the price of subsidized diesel, and covering the difference from PetroMasila’s production to achieve balance in the local market.
In this regard, he called for allocating the value of the diesel stored in PetroMasila since July 13 to establish a modern hospital in the Hadhramaut Plateau, calling on the relevant authorities to begin implementing this project and open a special account to finance it.
The alliance statement urged the government to pay the value of the diesel quantities consumed in electricity at their commercial price on a regular monthly basis to support Hadhramaut's growing needs.
He also urged the need to monitor the actions of the local authority in exploiting PetroMasila’s resources in a way that serves the public interest, and the commitment of official bodies to the principle of transparency and adherence to regulatory regulations.
The statement called on PetroMasila to expand its refinery to increase the production of petroleum derivatives and meet the needs of the local market, stressing that these steps are necessary to support economic stability and improve services for the Hadrami community.
