Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh, along with Hadhramaut Governor Mabkhout bin Madi, inaugurated the first international conference on health care challenges on Wednesday in the city of Mukalla, with the participation of 500 medical personnel from various medical sectors in the governorates of the republic.
The conference, which is the first in this specialty, will be held over two days this November. It is organized by the Yemeni Council for Medical and Health Specialties in Hadhramaut Coast, under the supervision of the Supreme Medical Council in the Republic, and with the sponsorship and funding of the local authority in Hadhramaut, according to the Saba Agency.
The conference discusses a number of challenges facing healthcare in various specialties: internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, public health, general surgery, in addition to other subspecialties.
A group of researchers, specialists and scientists will lecture in about 32 scientific papers, embodying these challenges that vary between adapting to modern technology, adhering to medical laws and regulations, protecting medical information, how to reach the patient’s desires, the shortage of medical personnel and their entitlements, and the burdens of population density.
The conference also discusses topics related to health human resources, the reality of health cadres, the health human resources strategy, and the role of the Yemeni Council for Medical Specialties in developing these resources.
The head of the Yemeni Council for Medical and Health Specialties in Hadhramaut Coast, and head of the conference preparatory committee, Professor Amer Balafir, pointed out that the conference will review 32 scientific papers, two discussion panels, and three scientific workshops aimed at examining the challenges to improve health care.
He reviewed the activities of the Yemeni Council for Medical and Health Specialties, which currently includes nine scientific courses in Hadhramaut, in addition to postgraduate studies.
The conference will witness the presentation of 32 scientific research papers, focusing on the misuse of drugs, including antibiotics, which results in severe deficiency in the components of the complete blood, acute renal failure after birth, cerebellar stroke, and the importance of routine examinations to reach the correct diagnosis.
The scientific papers also include the role of health personnel in preventing and treating chronic renal failure, muscular and skin complications resulting from high blood sugar, patient safety, high blood pressure among school teachers, hepatitis virus, and the importance of vaccines.
