Meeting of the Minister of Finance with the UNOPS team

On Tuesday, Finance Minister Salem bin Braik reiterated his ministry’s emphasis on providing the necessary facilities to international organizations, including UNOPS, especially with regard to customs exemptions.

This came during his meeting in Aden with the Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Yemen, Rehana Zawar, to discuss aspects of cooperation and joint coordination between the two sides, especially in the areas of customs exemptions, according to Saba Agency.

During the meeting, which included the Assistant Undersecretary of the Customs Authority for Technical Affairs, Abdullah Al-Habashi, the Project Coordinator at the UNOPS Office in Yemen, Khaldoun Salem, and a number of concerned parties, the level of implementation of UNOPS interventions in a number of sectors in our country during the current difficult phase was discussed, in accordance with the applicable legal regulations and systems.

The Minister of Finance, Bin Braik, reiterated the Ministry’s keenness to provide the necessary facilities and overcome the difficulties facing the government’s partners from international organizations operating in the country, including UNOPS, to ensure the successful implementation of its interventions and the achievement of its desired goals, foremost of which is the benefit of society.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the procedures and laws related to customs exemptions for UNOPS interventions.

The UNOPS team discussed with the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Buhaibeh, a number of topics related to UNOPS interventions and programmes in the health sector.

During the meeting, the UNOPS team reviewed the implemented and ongoing projects, as well as the locations of interventions and support provided in the areas of mental health.

The Minister of Health appreciated the tangible interventions of UNOPS, pointing to the infrastructure needs of the health sector and interventions in environmentally friendly projects.
