Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, discussed, on Saturday, in separate meetings with a number of permanent representatives to the United Nations, supporting peace efforts in Yemen.
The meetings included separate meetings with representatives of Greece, Somalia, Denmark, and Pakistan, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of multilateral work, developments in the region, and ways to enhance security and stability, according to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
According to the agency, Ambassador Al-Saadi reviewed the political developments, economic and humanitarian conditions in Yemen, efforts to achieve peace, and the important role that these sisterly and friendly countries can play through their membership in the Security Council to advance the peace process in Yemen and support political settlement efforts to end the conflict and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Yemenis.
Ambassador Al-Saadi reiterated the Yemeni government's commitment to the peace option and its keenness to support all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people, in accordance with the agreed-upon references for the political solution, foremost of which is Resolution 2216.
For their part, the permanent representatives affirmed their countries' firm position in supporting efforts to reach a political settlement to end the conflict in Yemen, expressing their appreciation for the flexibility shown by the Yemeni government in dealing positively with the efforts of the United Nations through its special envoy to Yemen.
The delegates also affirmed their readiness to work with the rest of the Council members to support efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.
