The United Nations World Food Program revealed today, Monday, that the port of Hodeidah has not received any fuel ship since the Israeli raid that targeted the port, which is under the control of the Houthi militia, on July 21.
This came in a report by the United Nations Program on the "Food Security Situation in Yemen" for the month of October, issued today, Monday.
The report said that all fuel imports to the port of Hodeidah have stopped since the first raid, and all incoming fuel ships have been diverted to the port of Ras Issa, which was also bombed by the Israeli occupation at the end of last September.
The program attributed the stability of fuel so far in the Houthi-controlled areas to the increase that had previously been estimated at 16.3% over last year.
The program confirmed that the quantity of fuel imported through the three ports of Hodeidah amounted to 6.076 million metric tons, during the period between January and September 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, in which a total of 5.225 million metric tons entered, and by 39.2% compared to the same period in 2022, in which the volume of imports amounted to 4.366 million metric tons.
He explained that fuel imports through the ports of Salif and Ras Isa on the Red Sea in the period from January to September 2024 amounted to 2.251 million metric tons, an increase of 3.3% over the same period in 2023, in which it reached 2.179 million metric tons, and by 62.4% over the corresponding period in 2022, in which 1.386 million metric tons entered.
The Israeli occupation launched raids on the main port of Hodeidah on July 21, destroying most of the fuel tanks, the pumping and control network, and the entire infrastructure of the oil ships. Then it resumed and launched raids on the port of Ras Issa on September 29, also targeting the oil tanks and infrastructure there.
