Tribal mediation in Shabwa

Tribal mediation failed on Monday to stop the ongoing fighting between two Awaleq tribes in the As-Saeed Directorate in Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen, which is under the control of the Transitional Council formations.

A tribal source told "Yemeni Youth Net" that tribal mediation failed to stop the fighting between the Al-Ahmed bin Fareed and Al-Abu Bakr bin Fareed tribes in the As-Saeed Directorate in Shabwa Governorate.

The source added that the mediation withdrew from the areas of clashes in the center of Al-Saeed Directorate, after reaching a dead end between the two parties.

Last Friday, clashes broke out between the two tribes and resumed on Saturday, after stopping for hours. Tensions remain high and clashes continue intermittently, after about a month of similar confrontations resulting from an old tribal vendetta.

It is noteworthy that the return of clashes three days ago came after the death of one of the companions of the Director General of the Upper Egypt Directorate, Sheikh Abu Bakr bin Farid, who succumbed to his wounds he sustained in an armed ambush that "Bin Farid" was exposed to last Wednesday evening, as the "Al Abu Bakr" family accuses the "Al Ahmed" tribe of being behind the ambush.

On Wednesday, tribal gunmen opened fire on Sheikh Al-Awlaki’s car in the Al-Masha’a area, while he was on his way from Ataq to Al-Sa’id, which resulted in the injury of two of his companions, who were transferred to a hospital in the governorate center to receive treatment, but one of them died on Friday night.
