The Shabwa Defense Forces, affiliated with the UAE-backed Transitional Council, continued to kidnap a former local official, for more than a week, in Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen.
Local sources said that forces in the Second Shabwa Defense Brigade kidnapped, last Monday, "Salem Suban Al-Khalifi," the former general manager of the Water and Sanitation Corporation in the center of Shabwa Governorate, and took him to Ataq Airport Prison.
The sources said that his kidnapping came after a dispute with one of the leaders of that faction over a piece of land in Ataq.
She pointed out that the forces refused to release him or refer him to the competent authorities, attributing the reason for his continued kidnapping to pressure him to do what they wanted.
