Yemen.. An expected conference on economic empowerment and qat alternatives next November

The Economic Empowerment and Qat Alternatives Conference will be launched next November, under the patronage of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Shad Al-Alimi.

The conference, which is organized by the Yemen Without Qat Foundation in cooperation with the World Relief and Development Organization, the Federation of NGOs in the Islamic World, and with the participation of a group of experts, academics, and business leaders, seeks to create a popular and public alignment of all different groups and institutions to limit the use of the qat plant.

The conference includes various scientific sessions, in addition to presenting more than 35 working papers in various fields.

The head of the foundation, Hajj Abdul-Wasie Hael Saeed Anam, explained that the conference aims to announce and launch a comprehensive national strategy to rescue the Yemeni people from the qat environment, and enable them to have appropriate economic alternatives to achieve sustainable development.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Foundation, Dr. Hamid Hussein Ziad, indicated that during the conference, a package of community, economic, agricultural and industrial projects and programs will be launched that will enable people to have appropriate alternatives. The conference will also focus on building local and international partnerships to obtain the necessary funding to implement the strategy.

Ziad added, "The conference will also discuss sustainable solutions, and will present clear strategies and plans prepared by specialized experts according to an integrated vision to eliminate this malicious tree and direct society towards a better future for future generations."

At the end of their statement, they called on media professionals, influencers, celebrities and journalists to participate in the awareness media campaign implemented by the Foundation in conjunction with the conference, and to register for the conference through the Foundation’s website.
