A number of cities and villages in Hadhramaut Governorate (eastern Yemen) witnessed heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms at dawn on Thursday, due to the tropical condition affecting the eastern governorates.

Heavy rains fell on the directorates of Sayoun, Tarim and Sah in the valley of the governorate, while the rains were heavier in the cities and countryside of the coastal directorates (Al-Mukalla, Ash Shihr, Brom Mayfa, Hajr, Ar-Raydah, Qusayr, Ghayl Bawazir and Ghayl Bin Yamin), from which torrents flowed.

Floods cut off the international road between Hadhramaut and Al Mahrah governorates in Al Ays area, while the other international line between Al Mukalla and Aden was cut off.

In this context, the Ministry of Education office in the governorate announced the suspension of studies for Thursday due to bad weather conditions.

The tropical condition will continue to affect the governorate until Friday, according to the Hadhramaut Early Warning Center. The center warned citizens not to risk crossing floodwaters while they are flowing, and not to touch electricity poles during and after rainfall.
