Prime Minister's visit to the Ministry of Health
Prime Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak directed the Ministry of Health on Monday to develop a plan to manage financial resources effectively and transparently, and ensure that support is directed to its core areas, such as primary care services and combating epidemic diseases.
During his visit to the Ministry of Health, Bin Mubarak made a number of evaluative observations based on the results of his field visits to hospitals and health centers in Aden, Hadramout, Lahj and Marib, and the importance of correcting imbalances in a way that helps raise the efficiency of health and treatment services for citizens.
According to Saba News Agency, Bin Mubarak was informed by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh, about the efforts made to improve medical and treatment services provided to citizens, combat the spread of epidemics and fevers, the steps being taken to automate the health system, and plans to establish model medical centers in the liberated governorates.
Dr. Bin Mubarak presented the ministry’s leaders with a comprehensive picture of the general situation at various levels and the accumulated challenges, especially the economic aspect and the decline of the national currency, and the ongoing efforts of the state and government to contain this.
He reiterated the need to continue on the path of reforms and work in accordance with the government's five priorities, as a necessary option that requires the commitment of all ministries and institutions and their assumption of their responsibilities.
He stressed the support for the Health Sector Support Fund project, in coordination with partners, primarily the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, and the need to increase investment in health infrastructure, including the construction and rehabilitation of hospitals and health centers, especially in rural areas.
The Prime Minister directed to build more effective partnerships with donor countries and organizations to strengthen the health system and benefit from international support in the areas of training, financing, and providing medicines and supplies.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to increase attention to providing mental health services and psychosocial support to populations affected by conflict and difficult humanitarian conditions, and to work on launching community programmes to support mental health, especially for affected children and youth.
He pointed out the importance of constantly raising the ministry's readiness to confront health emergencies, epidemics and the impact of climate change on the health situation, and establishing an effective emergency response system in cooperation with various sectors and local and international institutions.
