A court specializing in terrorism and state security cases in Hadhramaut Governorate (eastern Yemen) sentenced in absentia four leaders of the Houthi militia, including its leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, to death on charges of involvement in crimes of oppression and attacking the independence of the Republic of Yemen.
The ruling issued on Monday by the Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance in Hadhramaut Governorate, headed by Judge Fahd Mohammed Musa Al-Yazidi, President of the Court, and in the presence of the Public Prosecution member, Judge Ghanem Al-Bahsani, and Secretary Salem Saeed Bawazir, ruled to execute the leader of the Houthi militia, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, by flogging or shooting him to death in a public place, along with the leader Mahdi Al-Mashat, the Minister of Defense in the internationally unrecognized government, Mohammed Al-Atifi, and the military spokesman, Yahya Saree.
He added that the ruling came after they were convicted of involvement in crimes of prostitution, assault on the independence of the Republic of Yemen, illegal contact with a foreign country, assault on the constitution and constitutional authorities, armed rebellion and participation in an armed gang, and bombing, burning and sabotaging funds related to the national economy.
He pointed out that the ruling issued in the case filed by the Public Prosecution regarding the Houthi militias carrying out terrorist and sabotage attacks with drones in October and November 2022 on the Dabbah oil port in Hadhramaut Governorate and the Qana port in Shabwa Governorate, which paralyzed the national economy, increased the suffering of citizens, spread chaos and disrupted public tranquility.
