On Monday morning, the families of the kidnapped people from Al Mahwit Governorate organized a protest in the city of Ma’rib, to denounce the politicized Houthi execution decisions that the group issued against three teachers of their children who were kidnapped in its prisons for the ninth year in a row.
Yesterday, Sunday, an appeals court controlled by the Houthis upheld the death sentences issued earlier against the kidnappers, “Ismail Abu Al-Ghaith, Saghir Farea, and Abdulaziz Al-Aqili,” after they were subjected to forced disappearance and psychological and physical torture since 2015.
Participants in the protest raised slogans calling on human rights defenders to save their children from the implementation of politicized Houthi rulings, which they considered a flagrant violation of international norms and conventions.
The people stressed in their statement that these decisions constitute a crime against justice and humanity, calling on the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to intervene immediately to save the kidnapped people from the crimes of the militias.
The protesters also called on the United Nations envoy to Yemen to put maximum pressure on the Houthi militias to cancel the sentences and release their kidnapped sons.
The statement issued by the movement condemned the politicization of the judiciary by the Houthi militias to liquidate their opponents and take revenge for their positions, holding the group fully responsible for the safety of the kidnapped people.
The protesting families also called on the Supreme Judicial Council to hold accountable the Houthi leaders of the judges involved in these Houthi decisions and violations that shed the blood of Yemenis opposed to its project.
It also called on all local, regional and international organizations and the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who is always quick to defend the terrorist Houthi group, to exert serious and firm pressure to stop and cancel these orders, release these teachers, stop the killings through the Houthi Inquisition against Yemeni teachers, journalists, and civilians in general, and release them all.
