Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Sheikh Othman Majali, warned today, Monday, that the Houthi militias are digging trenches and storing weapons in the mountains, stressing that the Houthi project will only be eliminated by the Yemenis whose lives it threatens.
This came during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and joint cooperation to achieve peace, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
Majli pointed out the daily suffering of citizens in the governorates under the control of the terrorist Houthi militias, and their barbaric attacks directed by Iran against our people in all regions, including what happened recently by launching an unjust military campaign against the people of the Sarar area in the Wald Rabie Qifah district in Al Bayda governorate, and terrorizing innocent people, including elderly, women and children.
He also pointed out that the militia has been bombing citizens' homes over the past five days, preventing citizens from living their normal lives and doing their work in agriculture, shopping, treatment and other daily practices, despite the surrender of people who confronted the Houthis and defeated their terrorist militias.
The Leadership Council member said that the Houthi project will only be eliminated by the Yemenis who are threatened by it in their lives and who know its true capabilities, considering that targeting pomegranate farmers in Saada Governorate and trying to impose taxes on them and force the sale of agricultural products at low prices through Houthi supervisors made the farmers revolt against it in the public markets, and others preferred not to harvest the fruits and leave them to die on the farm.
Majali added, "The Houthi militia represents a serious threat to Yemen, the region, and the interests of the international community through the terrorist acts they are carrying out in the Red Sea as a global passage, and by continuing to dig trenches in the mountains and store weapons," explaining that these preparations are not for peace, while our partners are seeking peace and we in the legitimacy support and bless their efforts.
He continued: "We are happy that the international community has become convinced that everything the Houthis are doing is blackmail, and that the ambitions of the Houthis and Iran were exposed after the American strikes that killed five militia members who were being trained by the Iranians and carrying out military missions there."
Majali referred to the difficult humanitarian conditions and the great human and material losses that befell the population in Taiz, Hodeidah, Hajjah, and yesterday in Ma'rib Governorate as a result of climate change, heavy rains, and torrential floods that hit large parts of the country.
He called for the need for effective interventions by international organizations and friendly countries to address emergency needs and assist the affected families who lost their homes, farms and the most basic necessities of life that they enjoyed.
Majali also appreciated the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its rapid response and humanitarian interventions by sending aid through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid to cover the urgent food and shelter needs of those affected by the recent floods and rains in Taiz, Hodeidah, Hajjah and Marib.
The member of the Leadership Council condemned the crimes and brutal violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the defenceless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the siege of innocent people, the targeting of homes and their demolition on the heads of their residents, thus causing horrific humanitarian disasters.
Majali also stressed the position of the Leadership Council, the government and the Yemeni people in adhering to supporting the Palestinian people and championing their just cause until the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with the relevant international legitimate resolutions.
He appreciated the joint efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States of America to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, resume negotiations, and end the human suffering that the resistant Palestinian people are paying the price for.
In turn, the US Ambassador, Stephen Fagin, stressed his country's keenness to support Yemen and stand with the Yemeni people. He also expressed his country's readiness for urgent intervention in this regard, according to the assessments of international organizations and humanitarian partners in Yemen, pointing to the importance of supporting the Leadership Council, the government and the Yemeni people to overcome the successive crises in the country.
