The Yemeni army announced the discovery of a new type of landmines planted by the terrorist Houthi militia in the coastal Midi district, north of Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen.
The Engineering and Mine Action Division of the Fifth Military Region said that it received a report from citizens about the presence of a camouflaged bomb in the shape of a car tire in one of the villages of Midi Directorate, so engineering teams rushed to the place and removed it.
She stressed that the discovered mines are characterised by modern manufacturing techniques, and are more explosive and destructive, as their shrapnel reaches more than fifty square metres, which increases their danger to the lives of civilians and their livestock.
The Engineering Division explained that it was recently able to remove dozens of mines from one of the villages near the Bani Fayed area, affiliated with the Midi Directorate, to secure civilians from those Houthi mines that continuously claim civilians from time to time.
The Yemeni Observatory for Landmines said that the Houthis deployed camouflaged explosive devices alongside individual landmines in populated areas randomly, in a use that has nothing to do with military purposes but rather targets the lives of civilians.

It is noteworthy that the terrorist Houthi militias, supported by Iran, planted more than two million mines of different shapes and sizes in large areas of the country, causing the death and injury of thousands of citizens, most of whom are children and women, according to human rights and government reports.
