The Yemeni army announces the arrest of a drug trafficking and selling gang after a chase in the east of the country

The Yemeni army announced, on Wednesday, the arrest of a gang involved in promoting and selling drugs after a chase operation in the east of the country.

The Yemeni Armed Forces Media Center said that a military checkpoint affiliated with the 23rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade arrested a gang specialized in promoting and selling drugs, on the road linking the governorates of Hadhramaut and Ma'rib.

The center quoted a military source as saying that soldiers from the checkpoint succeeded in chasing the gang and arresting it, explaining that 8,000 Captagon pills were found in its possession, with an estimated value of 48,000 Saudi riyals.

The source stated that the brigade leadership referred the gang members to the Valley and Desert Security Department in Hadhramaut Governorate after listing the seized quantity in official reports.

For his part, the commander of the 23rd Mechanized Brigade, Brigadier General Abdullah Muazab, praised the security sense and high vigilance of the personnel at the point, calling for more efforts to enhance security at all military points affiliated with the brigade, stressing the continuation of efforts to combat terrorism and drug smuggling to protect Yemeni society from destructive scourges.
