Protesters seized crude oil tankers destined for the president's power station in Aden on Thursday evening in the city of Mukalla in Hadramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen.

A local source told "Yemeni Youth Net" that angry protesters closed the international road in Dis Al-Mukalla on Thursday evening, and prevented the passage of crude oil trailers coming from the PetroMasila Company in the port of Ad-Dabbah, which are designated for the electricity of the President's Station in Aden.

The source added that the prevention of the passage of the trucks continued until the last hours of Thursday evening, indicating that their detention came in protest against the deterioration of the electricity crisis in Hadhramaut.

According to the source, the protesters demanded the implementation of Hadhramaut's demands announced by the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, especially in the service and administrative aspects of the governorate.

Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance said yesterday, Wednesday, that it has no objection to supplying the coastal power station with additional quantities of fuel.

He said: "We in the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance do not object, from the beginning, to supplying the power stations on the Hadhramaut coast, which are experiencing a power outage, with sufficient additional quantities of diesel fuel produced by the PetroMasila Company to continue and improve electricity services... provided that it reaches its destination in the power generation stations directly."

Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance called on the Electricity Corporation and the relevant authorities to cooperate and carry out their role and responsibilities to the fullest extent.
