A US official said on Friday that US Navy warships, while passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, intercepted a number of projectiles fired by the Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the projectiles included missiles and drones and did not damage any of the three warships in the area. The official was based on preliminary information that could change.
The Houthis said earlier on Friday they had targeted three US destroyers in the Red Sea by firing 23 missiles and drones.
