Lahj: Yemen Youth Net - Special
Yesterday, Sunday, the president, judges and employees of Al-Hawtah Primary Court in Lahj announced the suspension of work in the court and the start of a strike, after the president of the court was assaulted by one of the disputants and his relatives, and the security director released them after they were placed in the central prison.
Informed sources said that the defendant, Yazid Mohsen Mubarak Bashadhi, and three of his brothers attacked the head of the Al-Hawtah Primary Court, Judge Dhikrayat Abdul Karim, and smashed the office during a hearing in a custody case between the defendant, Yazid Bashadhi, and his ex-wife.
The sources explained that the accused, "Bashady", came to the session with his brothers and assaulted and attacked the judge, which prompted the head of the court to take legal measures by writing a report on the incident and directing the director of the central prison to refer the attackers to prison.
The sources reported that the Director of Security of Lahj, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammed Al-Shawhati, who is affiliated with the Transitional Council, later directed the prison director to release the attackers without referring to the court.
The sources indicated that the judges and court employees considered the assault and the security director's release of the attackers an assault on the prestige and independence of the judiciary, and they announced the start of a strike starting today, Monday, until the attackers are returned to prison and the security director is held accountable for obstructing the workflow.
Meanwhile, other sources reported that there are efforts to contain the situation by returning the attackers to prison today, Monday, in preparation for lifting the strike in court.
