Al-Hawtah Primary Court in Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen, resumed work today, Tuesday, after a day of strike, against the backdrop of the assault on the court president.

An informed human rights source told "Yemeni Youth Net" that the head of the court, Dhikrayat Abdul Karim, directed the resumption of work from today, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, after handing over the attackers to justice and placing them in prison.

The head of the Al-Hawtah Primary Court in Lahj announced on Sunday the suspension of work in the court and the start of a strike, after it was attacked by one of the disputants and his relatives, and the release of them by the security director after they were placed in the central prison.

Informed sources said that the defendant, Yazid Mohsen Mubarak Bashadhi, and three of his brothers attacked the head of the Al-Hawtah Primary Court, Judge Dhikrayat Abdul Karim, during a hearing in a custody case between the defendant, Yazid Bashadhi, and his ex-wife.

The sources added that the accused, "Bashady", came to the session with his brothers and assaulted and attacked the judge, which prompted the head of the court to take legal measures by writing a report on the incident and directing the director of the central prison to refer the attackers to prison.

According to the source, the Director of Security of Lahj, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammed Al-Shawhati, who is affiliated with the Transitional Council, later directed the prison director to release the attackers without referring to the court, which prompted the judges and employees of the court to declare a strike.
