Rain destroys displaced persons camps - Archive
Today, Friday, the local authority in Marib Governorate launched an urgent distress call to relief organizations operating in the country, to rescue the displaced people affected by the torrential rains that fell on the governorate early this morning and are still continuing at the time of writing.
This came in a statement issued by the Planning and International Cooperation Office in the governorate, which was published on its social media pages, following the heavy rains and violent hurricanes that hit the camps for the displaced in various areas of the governorate.
The statement confirmed that the harsh weather conditions caused the complete destruction of the camps, which led to the displacement of thousands of displaced persons who became homeless and suffer from harsh conditions in the open, in the areas of the displaced persons camps in the Khab and Al Sha'af Directorate.
The Planning and International Cooperation Office in the governorate called on all relief organizations to intervene immediately to provide the necessary assistance to these displaced persons, including providing shelter, food, and other basic needs.
The office confirmed the local authority's readiness to fully cooperate, provide possible facilities for delivering aid, and ease all obstacles, calling for a rapid and effective response as vital to saving lives and alleviating suffering.
