Civil defense teams, with the assistance of the Coast Guard and Public Security Forces, in Hadhramaut Governorate (eastern Yemen) extinguished a huge fire that broke out in the port of Mukalla early this morning, causing significant material losses.
Hadhramaut Coast Guard Forces said in a statement on Wednesday that the fire that broke out in the "Wadi Refrigerator" in the middle of the third dock of Mukalla Port was contained after intensive efforts by firefighting teams and Coast Guard Forces, with the participation of Public Security.
He added in a statement on his Facebook page that the fire, which broke out in the middle of the night, lasted for three hours without recording any human losses, while the material damage caused losses of up to 90%, and smoke is still rising from the site where the fire occurred.
He pointed out that the fire brigades, coast guard forces and criminal investigation teams are continuing to work to address the situation and follow up on the circumstances of the accident.
Colonel Mohammed Omar Bamhair, Commander of the Coast Guard Forces, confirmed that the integrated efforts between the Civil Defense teams, the Coast Guard Forces and the security services led to the complete extinguishing of the fire, stressing the importance of identifying the root causes behind the outbreak of the fire, to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
Colonel Bamhair reassured citizens that the situation in the area is completely safe, and there is no cause for concern, after citizens were concerned that the fire would spread to the oil tanks near the place.
