The General Electricity Corporation in Hadhramaut Valley said today, Thursday, that the reason for the repeated power outages in Hadhramaut Valley is due to a technical problem in one of the turbines of the PetroMasila gas station.

The corporation explained in a statement published on its social media page that due to this aforementioned problem, the electricity was cut off in the Shaab Ahmed 33kv and Wadi Bin Ali 33kv lines using a load shedding system.

She pointed out that after that, "the energy was drained through the two mentioned lines, and the turbine remained out of service until the problem was resolved and it was put into operation."

She noted that "this matter caused an additional temporary deficit in the system, which increased the pressure on the system's lines," apologizing to subscribers for this emergency matter beyond her control.

This comes in light of the ongoing popular protests witnessed by the city of Mukalla, denouncing the continued power outages for long hours, and the failure of the measures taken to confront the electricity dilemma that appears from time to time, sometimes due to fuel and other times due to technical problems and others.
